Since 1869, Richardson-Cuddy Insurance Agency has been a provider of top-notch insurance services in the Greater Attleboro area.  The Agency has undergone many name changes in its 140-year history and has been a fixture in Attleboro, occupying the Bates Building for the better part of the 20th century and now located at the former Attleboro Mutual Fire Insurance Company on Park Street.  Although times have changed dramatically since the Agency first opened its doors, one thing has remained constant – our strong commitment to our clients.

The Agency flourished in the 19th century under the ownership of Roger Richardson.  Upon Mr. Richardson’s retirement in 1978, Tom Cuddy Jr. purchased the agency.  Mr. Cuddy ran the Agency until 2003 when his son, Mark Cuddy, purchased the agency. 

In October of 2011, the Richardson-Cuddy Insurance Agency merged with the Farrell Backlund Insurance Agency.  Clients of Richardson-Cuddy and Farrell Backlund enjoy the convenience of six local offices, access to almost two dozen insurance companies, and the continuity of working with an Agency dedicated to exceeding the needs of our valued clients. 

Farrell Backlund has been a leading insurance agency in Bristol County for more than sixty years.  The Agency has six locations – Taunton, Attleboro, Rehoboth, Dighton, Middleboro, Freetown – and 70 employees. The Agency has over 25 national and regional insurance companies and a client base of over 19,000 personal and commercial clients.
