We would like to take a minute to share something close to the hearts of our team because we are making a request for your help.  The city of Attleboro has just received a grant to make Sanford Alley beautiful and is taking a survey for a name to honor this new renovated area, one of whom is Tom Cuddy, Jr.  Well, there is no doubt in our mind or anyone that knew Tom who’s name should be devoted to that area and here’s why.

Each month, our employees choose a cause as part of our FBcares program.  This March our team is coming to the aid of our friend and fellow employee Jen Thomas. We usually raise money by donating dollars in exchange for wearing jeans to work on the last Friday of the month. However, as our team is remote due to COVID-19 pandemic, we found out Jen likes sea turtles so that was our theme instead of jeans and we encouraged our team to get creative.

This Martin Luther King Jr. Day marks the 25th anniversary of the holiday.  Increasingly, MLK Day is becoming known as “a day on, not a day off,”  designated as a national day of service to encourage volunteering in and improving our local communities. We are excited to announce that this month’s Jeans Day is put on by first-time time host, Matt, from our Client Experience Coordinator team. He decided to go with a charity that is close to his heart. His sister runs a charity called Haunts for Hope that donates to the Boston Children’s Hospital. She founded this charity in honor of her daughter who was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s Disease. Please read the bio below that Matt’s sister wrote for the charity and about the disease.

Once again this holiday season our Jeans Day program is sponsoring The Holiday Hope Project. Previously having sponsoring Christmas Wishes until they closed their doors, we searched for similar organizations that provided gifts, food, and supplies to under-privileged families that would have otherwise been in need during one of the most joyous times of the year.

In 2016 we found The Holiday Hope Project Child & Family Services, Inc. of New Bedford that allows us to “adopt a family” for the holidays.  Child & Family Services Inc. is a 501c3 organization

This week, members of our team attended HubWeek 2019 Fall Festival. HubWeek was founded in 2014 by the Boston Globe, Harvard University, Massachusetts General, and MIT on the “simple belief in the power of the people of Boston to build a better future.”

In their 5 years, HubWeek has played host to speakers ranging from Senator John Kerry, entrepreneur and social activist Scott Harrison, to New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd.

This year’s theme is “The Pursuit: of change, of inspiration, of connection, and of the unknown” through disrupting an industry. So

September’s Jeans Day will be the “New England Walk4Hearing” hosted by our Client Service Manager Colleen Rosa. Her niece, Tia, was diagnosed at birth with moderate bilateral sensorineural hearing loss which is caused by damage to the inner ear or problems with the nerves from the ear to the brain (ASHA, 2019). This requires her to use of hearing aids, American Sign Language (ASL) and lip reading. Tia, who is now 10 years old, is mainstreamed in the public school system with the support from The Program for the Deaf

On our (early) July’s Jeans Day, the FBinsure team is throwing on jeans and donating dollars to support the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and The Jimmy Fund. This month’s charity is chosen by our very own Amy Duckett, a Client Service Manager, who will be participating in the 2019 Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk on September 22nd!  This month’s donations to her walk directly support Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s unique 50-50 balance between cutting-edge science and highly compassionate cancer care. The support received allows Dana-Farber leaders to enhance programs and initiatives that

For this month’s Jeans Day we are supporting The Youth Investment Foundation. This organization got its start in 2008 with those working with the Juvenile Courts in New Bedford. They saw these at-risk youth and wanted to help. So often, these kids just need a little guidance and stability to turn their lives around and get on the right path.  This organization tries to help them so they don’t fall through the cracks of the system.  With the donations the organization receives, they are able to offer participants educational opportunities,

This month’s Jean’s Day advocate is Doreen White who is a member of our AVP team.  Doreen was introduced to the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals by the current Miss Taunton, Lyndsey Littlefield.  Lyndsey has been involved with the Miss America Organization for the past 5 years.  This organization raises money for the CMNHs each year.
